Changes in the world

Think about this for a second. Facts are now ubiquitous. For example in 1990 if you had the head librarian of Cambridge University and you had a 12 year old schoolboy and you asked them the population of Brazil who do you think would find it faster? The answer is obvious. Now in 2010 you have that same 12 year old boy with an internet connection on some device and you need to know that fact who will win the race? Hard to tell? Maybe a tie?

The questions I have about this are…

1. Does that make any difference to our daily lives? How?
2. Does that have implications for education? How?
3. Does it mark a dramatic societal shift or just another blip in the digital age?
